Bryn Sadownik spoke about the Demonstrating Value Initiative: Defining a Shared Framework for Assessing the Performance and Impact of Social Enterprise

We had a full house for the first Lunch and Learn in the Fall 2009 program.  Bryn Sadownik's presentation on the Demonstrating Value Project inspired a lively discussion and a great deal of excitement among 15 or so evaluators.

The Demonstrating Value Project is a collaborative research project to develop a framework for assessing the impact and performance of social enterprises in Canada.  The evaluators attending the talk were particularly impressed with a synthesis of  methodologies and tools from different fields ( including evaluation, business performance tools, financial accounting, social accounting and cost-benefit analysis) to deliver meaningful information to a wide range of stakeholders. A management tool which enables concise reporting of key aspects of social enterprises' performance has also been developed  and an example of it can be seen here.
